There are quite a lot of people in SL that do some great work by helping newbies. They do it for free. I know quite a lot of other people that do arts for free. Some on my friends list make machinima – for free. Why do we expect some people work for free? What puzzles me a lot more is: how can we accept some business, like banking, do very bad business and when they´re broke we give them new money to play with. (what i know this hasn’t happened in SL yet tho) Why should some people get nothing at all and some get paid even for bad business?
We often claim that some people have a long education and that’s why they get paid more. They took loans to be able to study and need to pay back the loans. Question: Why does a man get more paid than a woman for a job if a woman has the exact same loan for the exact same education? Or… why does one branch pay much more even if the loan for the education is less? I know… the same people that claims that education and the loans that’s needed to fulfill the education is the fair reason to the high salary, are the same people that starts to talk about that the market value is the answer to that question. So the market value is doing the unjust just? We should be aware of that WE are the ones that sets the market value – or at least we could if we were aware and wanted to make it just. The market value is just a bad excuse !
Ok..I know and understand that it is, or seems to be, very complex and to much to grasp. But isnt it easy to see the injustice? Isnt it time to rethink and bring some REAL arguments that will bring sustainablility to the subjects?
I really don’t want to complain and search for the “guilty” people or groups of people. I already defined what I think is the problem. It´s the system we live in – the monetary competition and profit system. It drives us totally wrong and makes us do “bad” things. We all have bills to pay and that seems to make it impossible to leave the system. What I wonder is why we let injustice seem as its the most natural thing? Could it be different? There are some people that thinks so and have been working to understand how our system works now and how it could be instead.
