Get rich in Second Life™ – part 4

There are some people that never would charge for anything they do. They wont get rich – not of money that is. Then there are people that would charge for just everything they do. They are not guaranteed to get rich neither – and they probably don’t get rich in any way. Then there are all in between. Some of them manage to get rich in many ways. Some people just try to get enough money to pay for their cost of being in SL. SL doesn’t have to cost anything, but like me some wants to have a piece of land and for that you have to pay.

In SL I know a lot of people that don’t consider SL as a game. Many of them are there to volunteer for a charity group or other non for profit organisation. Not everybody is aiming for getting loads of money. They are working for a better world and I’m quite sure they feel rich even if its hard work and you have to face some really bad stuff. 

I’ve been involved in several events trying to create awareness. It was all volunteer work. I could have spent my time trying to make some money but I want to use the platform SL and my time there for something that can mean something in RL too. I could have been trying to get rich in RL too. So why don’t I? Honestly… I have had 3 companies and I could make ends meet. I managed to get new costumers and keep the old ones.  I was early in the IT business. I saw a great future in which IT tech could help us make a better world. The IT companies started to buy each other to become BIG companies. On paper it would look good and sustainable. In my eyes it was just a scam. And we all know how the IT business bubble bursted. So an honest business like the one i tried to maintain also got in trouble. I realised that i didnt want to compete on such terms and left the life as a business guy. That’s why i cant get rich in business.  And that’s why I don’t want to make business in SL. I get some tips when i play my music live in SL and I often feel that its a privilege for me especially when so many never get anything for their time they give to others in SL. But i truly feel rich in SL for many other reason but not rich on money   Part 5 tomorrow
